The event consisted of a high-level dialogue between the Director-General of the World Health Organization (WHO), Dr. Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus, and the UN High Commissioner for Human Rights, Mr. Volker Türk. The aim of the meeting was to highlight the urgent need to protect and promote health rights, particularly in contexts marked by chaos and crisis.

In conflict-affected areas such as Al Shifa in Gaza, Syria and Afghanistan, access to healthcare is severely hampered by the destruction of basic infrastructure and precarious living conditions. This situation exposes many lives to serious risks and makes effective access to the right to health a considerable challenge.

It is imperative to emphasize that health is a fundamental, non-negotiable and universal human right, which should not be subordinated to political, geographical or socio-economic considerations. This recognition is underpinned by both moral principles and international legal frameworks.

In addition, the dialogue highlighted the additional challenges posed by climate change, which amplifies health disparities and jeopardizes the well-being of communities, especially the most vulnerable.

Faced with these complex realities, it is imperative to promote collaboration between players, foster innovation in approaches and empower local communities to achieve concrete, sustainable solutions.

The event served as a platform to underline the urgent need for concerted and coordinated action to ensure that every individual, even in the most unstable circumstances, can fully enjoy their right to health and well-being.
