About Us

THE INTERNATIONAL OBSERVATORY FOR PEACE, DEMOCRACY AND HUMAN RIGHTS, GENEVA ''IOPDHR-GENEVA-NGO'' is a non-profit organization, an independent structure, based on a participatory approach, whose purpose is to create a space for reflection around the subjects of democracy, peace and human rights. It aims to carry out follow-up and monitoring work around the world, in the MENA region and in particular the Sahara and Sahel regions.

In a context marked by wars, conflicts and tensions as well as the risks of the spread of terrorism, the multiplication of terrorist acts in the world, and the use of violence to resolve conflicts, there is a need there is an urgent need to design appropriate policies and intensify initiatives that would contribute – in the medium and long term – to creating the conditions likely to tackle the root causes of these problems.

Our quality as human rights defenders makes us closer and doubly concerned by these challenges.

Faced with this, the interdependence between democracy, human rights and security issues is confirmed day after day. It is no longer possible to guarantee, protect and promote human rights except in a democratic environment with relevant laws and institutions. On the other hand, without security as a pillar of progress; rights, freedoms and democratic construction will struggle to see the light of day.

Consequently, the International Observatory for Peace, Democracy and Human Rights of Geneva ''IOPDHR-GENEVA'', was created with a view to promoting the values of peace and tolerance, monitor and monitor what is happening in the world in relation to these issues, and particularly in regions whose conditions oscillate between the absence and weakness of democratic institutions, extreme fragility in terms of rights and freedoms, and the threat permanent security in the face of the imminent danger of terrorism.
